The University of Maidiguri is popular university located in the northern part of Nigeria, The University of Maiduguri was created in 1975 as one of the second-generation Universities, which formed part of the programmes of the Third National Development plan (1975-80) by the then Federal Military Government.
There were also 77 academic departments spread across these faculties. As at the end of 2016 the University had one college of Medical Sciences, a School of Postgraduate Studies and 12 Faculties.

General Admission Requirements
- Candidates must score minimum of 160 and above in 2020 UTME examination and must choose UNIMAID as the first choice of institution.
- Candidates must score minimum of of five credit in the relevant subjects including English and mathematics in SSCE/NECO.
- All direct entry candidates must possess minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE/IJMB or Second Class Lower Division.
